Buying gifts for campers is always a little tricky.
Most camping gear is at least somewhat specialized – and that’s not to mention that most campers are super particular about the gear they use.
That’s why we’ve put together this camping gift guide!
We’ve hand-picked 21 gifts (for all budgets) with a specific focus on gear that’s perfect for dispersed camping and boondocking.

Dispersed Camping Gifts Under $50
Looking for the perfect dispersed camping gift under $50? Here are our top budget-friendly picks.
Darn Tough Socks
Darn Tough socks make a great gift for any occasion.
According to the company, they’re the “longest-lasting socks” you can buy. They back up that claim with a lifetime warranty.
The socks are available in a variety of fun colors and patterns. Models are available for specific outdoor uses, such as hiking, snow sports, and running.
All Darn Tough socks are made in the USA (in Vermont) with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Black Diamond Moji+ Lantern
The Black Diamond Moji+ is as functional as it is stylish.
The cute little camping lantern boasts a simple, easy-to-use design. Its compact construction makes it perfect for backpacking.
The 150-lumen light is adjustable to achieve the ideal brightness. It even remembers what brightness it was last adjusted to after it’s turned off and then turned back on again.
Although the Moji+ doesn’t have legs, it does have two collapsible top hooks. These make it easy to hang the lantern inside your tent or vehicle to light up your space without it getting in the way.
Happy Bottom Portable Bidet
A bidet for camping? Yes!
The Happy Bottom Portable Bidet is a super useful tool that will keep your bottom happy after you’re done taking care of business in the woods.
It might not be the most show-stopping camping gift ever, but it’s a very practical present for those that regularly go dispersed camping at primitive campsites without facilities.
AeroPress Go Travel Coffee Press
Looking for a camping gift for the coffee lover in your life?
You’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better than the AeroPress Go Travel Coffee Press.
This nifty little device packs all the punch of a standard AeroPress in a smaller, camp-friendly package. It brews up a cup of delicious java in just one minute.
But my favorite thing about using an AeroPress while camping is the easy cleanup. Your coffee-loving camper will appreciate the minimal mess this camp coffee maker creates.
Lodge Cast Iron Skillet
Know a camper that loves to cook over the campfire?
Then Lodge cookware will likely make a fantastic present. Although they also make Dutch ovens and griddles among much else, a Lodge skillet is a must-have for every camping foodie.
A 12-inch Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is extremely versatile and all but unbreakable. This is a gift that will get a lifetime of use.
Cast iron is perfect for cooking campfire meals. But, of course, you can also use it on your camping stove (as well as at home!).
Hydro Flask Water Bottle
Sure, Hydro Flasks water bottles are trendy. But, they’re so popular for good reason – they’re great at what they do!
Not only do their fun colors make for a stylish look, but their double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless-steel construction keeps your cool drink cool for hours (and your hot drink hot for hours) and holds up well to all the bangs and bruises that come with an active lifestyle.
These water bottles are available in a ton of different sizes, although I think the 32-ounce Hydro Flask is the perfect size for gift giving.
Hydro Flask also makes a ton of other products, including wine tumblers, pint tumblers, cooler cups, and so much more.
Dispersed Camping Gifts Between $50 and $100
Have a little more to spend? Here are a few great dispersed camping gift ideas for under $100.
ENO SingleNest Hammock
The ENO SingleNest Hammock is a great budget-friendly hammock for sleeping in overnight. Of course, it’s just as perfect for relaxing in at the campsite if you prefer camping in a tent.
The SingleNest is very easy to set up. Once setup, it’s extremely comfortable to lay in. It’s available in several vibrant colors and patterns.
A larger version, the ENO DoubleNest, a two-person hammock, is a great choice for those planning to use their hammock with another person.
Neither the SingleNest or DoubleNest comes with hammock straps. Buy the ENO Atlas Suspension System separately.
BioLite Charge 80 PD Power Bank
The BioLite Charge 80 PD is my favorite handheld portable power bank for dispersed camping.
At just 1 pound 6.4 ounces, it’s light enough to tuck inside your backpack without weighing you down. And the 20,000 mAh (74 Wh) capacity is more than enough to charge smaller devices, like your smartphone, several times on a single charge. It’s even capable of providing a full charge to a standard 13-inch laptop.
This is an awesome gift for anyone that’s always on the go – whether that’s camping, backpacking, traveling, or any other activity where a standard power source isn’t always readily available.
America the Beautiful Pass
Give the gift of outdoor travel with an America the Beautiful Pass for 2022.
Not only is this pass good for entry into every national park in the United States, but it’s also honored by the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and several other organizations.
The pass is good for free entry into more than 2,000 federal recreation sites for a full year after the month of purchase. It covers entrance fees for one normal passenger vehicle and all of its passengers.
An America the Beautiful Pass is the perfect camping gift for anyone planning a national park road trip in 2022.
Dispersed Camping Gifts Between $100 to $250
The following dispersed camping gifts range from $100 up to $250 and are perfect for pretty much any camper.
Poler Reversible Napsack
Available in a variety of fun and stylish colors and patterns, the Poler Napsack is certain to be loved by anyone who receives it as a gift.
It takes the standard design of a hooded sleeping bag and adds in arm holes and a cinched bottom opening for your legs. In other words, you can use it as either a sleeping bag or a sort of puffy coat. It even has pockets to keep your most important devices close at hand!
Although the Poler Napsack isn’t warm enough for year-round outdoor use (it’s rated for temperatures down to just 50°F), it’s certainly awesome for summer camping trips, sitting around the campfire in the spring or fall, or crashing on a friend’s couch for the night.
It’s sort of like an extra-warm Snuggie made specifically for the outdoors! Plus, it’s reversible.
Exped MegaMat 10 Sleeping Pad
When it comes to inflatable air mattresses for camping, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything as comfortable as the Exped MegaMat 10 Sleeping Pad.
The oversized sleeping pad is not only super comfortable, but it’s also extra warm thanks to its thickness and built-in insulation.
Although the MegaMat 10 is too heavy for backpacking, it’s the ideal sleep surface for tent camping near your car. It also fits in the back of most passenger vehicles, from SUVs to vans to truck beds.
The standard MegaMat 10 is built with one sleeper in mind. The even larger Exped MegaMat Duo 10 is made for two adults or an adult and two small kids (or just one adult that loves all that extra space!).

Camp Chef Explorer Stove
The Camp Chef Explorer is one of the best boondocking gifts for the foodie camper in your life.
The oversized two-burner stove (each massive burner pumps out 30,000 BTUs) comes with four sturdy legs so you can cook at just under waist height without a table.
It runs on propane and comes with a three-foot hose and regulator (tank not included). The entire stove is incredibly well-built with cast-aluminum burners, steel legs (detachable if you want to use the stove on a table), and sturdy wind screens.
Compared to most camping stoves, the temperature controls are very precise for easy simmering. The stove pairs with a huge variety of Camp Chef accessories, including the Camp Chef Pizza Oven and Camp Chef Griddle.
Although the Camp Chef Explorer is a great gift for all campers, do note that it’s quite heavy and bulky. You can certainly take it car camping, but it’s best suited for RVs, trailers, and other vehicles with plenty of extra storage space.
Pendleton Yakima Camp Blanket
I’m a huge fan of Pendleton blankets – for use at home and while camping.
If you’re struggling to find the perfect Christmas gift for an outdoor enthusiast, the Pendleton Yakima Camp Blanket is all but a no-brainer.
Not only are these blankets beautiful and incredibly well-made (they’re made to last a lifetime), but they’re ideal for camping thanks to their wool construction.
Wool is notable for its breathability while simultaneously prohibiting excess air from escaping, thereby creating an insulated nest of warmth and coziness. They draw moisture away from your body so you’re unlikely to wake up sweaty.
Better yet, wool continues to insulate even when wet. If your sleeping bag gets wet, it’s insulating-power is reduced – not so with a wool blanket like those from Pendleton.
Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Fleece Pullover
The Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Fleece is a versatile piece of outdoor clothing that every serious camper should have in their closet.
Not only is this pullover fleece one of Patagonia’s most classic styles, but it’s also super warm and soft with an almost perfect fit. Wear it alone or underneath an outer shell. A huge benefit of the Synchilla fleece design is the ability to insulate even when wet.
This Patagonia fleece is available in a men’s version, women’s version, children’s version, and even a model for infants! It’s available in many stylish colors and patterns.
Patagonia Black Hole Duffel
Everyone needs a high-quality duffel bag. And the Patagonia Black Hole Duffel is perfect for anyone with an outdoor bent.
I find that the 40L Black Hole is the ideal size for a weekend trip to the city – but can still hold all the clothing needed for a week of dispersed camping. It’s also a great carry-on bag for air travel.
Like all Patagonia products, the Black Hole Duffel is well-made and constructed in large part from recycled materials. It features a weather-resistant film laminate with durable water repellent (DWR) treatment, padded straps, and a structured base. Daisy chains allow you to attach even more gear to the outside of the bag.
In addition to the 40L version, the Black Hole Duffel is also available in 55L, 70L, and 100L models.
NEMO Stargaze Recliner
For the utmost in camp comfort, look no further than the NEMO Stargaze Recliner.
This luxury camping chair makes an ideal camping gift for pretty much any camper. Not only is it extremely comfortable, but it’s built to last for years (which certainly helps justify the high price tag!).
The ability to kick back and recline is undoubtedly the highlight of the Stargaze Recliner. It easily and automatically reclines into several different angles. You can even use it as a rocking chair of sorts.
Dispersed Camping Gifts Over $250
Have a larger gift-giving budget? The following dispersed camping gifts cost a pretty penny, but they’re not only extremely useful, they’ll also last for years on end!
Yeti Tundra 45 Cooler
Yeti coolers are popular for a reason – they’re incredibly effective at keeping ice and food cold while camping.
When used properly (pre-chilling, limiting time opened, stored in the shade), they can keep ice for up to one full week!
The rotomolded construction, extra-thick walls, and freezer-quality gasket further increase functionality and durability. And that’s not to mention this cooler’s trendy good looks.
As a gift, the Yeti Tundra 45 Cooler is the perfect size, in my opinion. But this cooler is also available in a smaller model, the Tundra 35, and a larger model, the Tundra 65.
Garmin inReach Mini 2 Satellite Messenger
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is hands down my favorite piece of dispersed camping gear I own.
It’s a lightweight, compact satellite communicator with two-way messaging, GPS location tracking, and an emergency SOS feature.
If your loved one regularly camps off the grid in areas without cellular reception, this is a must-have device to stay in touch. The peace of mind the inReach Mini 2 provides is well worth the price.

Jackery Explorer 500 Portable Power Station
A portable power station is an awesome camping gift for the diehard dispersed camper or boondocker in your life.
And the Jackery Explorer 500 is one of the best solar power stations on the market today. It’s great for charging devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops as well as providing continuous power for electric coolers, CPAP machines, electric blankets, and more.
Do note that the Explorer 500 weighs just over 13 pounds. It’s best used inside a vehicle (like a truck, SUV, or van), but can be lugged around the campsite with the built-in carry handle.
Recharge this Jackery portable power station with a wall outlet, 12-volt car outlet, or a portable solar panel (sold separately).

Solo Stove Bonfire Pit
The Solo Stove Bonfire Pit is another one of those gifts that will be hard to give away – you’ll almost certainly want to keep it for yourself!
It’s basically a portable campfire that comes in a stainless-steel package. It’s lightweight and compact for easy transportation to and from the campsite. It also makes a great backyard fire pit.
The Solo Stove Bonfire is easy to light, burns hot and efficiently, and produces minimal smoke (much, much less than a normal campfire).
Rumpl NanoLoft Puffy Blanket
Last but not least on our list of the best camping gifts is the Rumpl NanoLoft Puffy Blanket.
Although it’s available in a single and double model, I much prefer the 2-person model (even for solo use) thanks to the excess material to wrap myself up into a cozy cocoon – it’s also plenty big for two people to use at once.
The blanket is made from a proprietary synthetic down made of tiny circular clusters of fabric to keep you warm in temperatures down to about 50°F. It’s fairly lightweight (just 3 pounds 6 ounces for the 2-person model) and packs down quite small.
The Rumpl NanoLoft Puffy is perfect for sitting around the campfire, watching sunsets on the beach, reading on the couch, draping over your sleeping bag for extra warmth, or replacing a sleeping bag on warmer nights.
A Gift Card Is Another Great Camping Gift
A gift card honestly might just be the best camping gift of all.
Because campers have such strong opinions on which gear they like and dislike, selecting the right gift can be downright confusing, especially if you’re a non-camper.
Most online retailers and individual brands sell gift cards, but we think an REI gift card is a particularly great choice.
REI has a huge selection of gear available in 168 retail stores across the country. Their gift cards can also be used online. Plus, their return/exchange policy is one of the absolute best around.
